A full bathroom renovation replaces everything you can see and everything you cannot. We strip the room back to framing, inspect the substrate, rebuild the wet-area layers, waterproof to AS 3740, tile, install fixtures and hand the room back ready to use. One team coordinates the demolition, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling and fit-off so you are not left chasing separate trades.

Most Brisbane homes we work on were built between the 1950s and 1990s. That means we regularly find failed sheeting, tired pipework, undersized exhaust fans and waterproofing that was never documented. Our written scope starts with a site inspection and a moisture check, then sets out exactly what will be replaced, what can be retained and how variations will be priced.

Whether you are updating a family bathroom in Chermside, reworking an ensuite in Coorparoo or preparing an apartment in Spring Hill for sale, the process is the same: a fixed written scope, a realistic programme, one point of contact and a formal handover with your waterproofing certificate.

What is included in our full bathroom renovation scope

Every project is different, but the following scope is the foundation we price and manage. Your written quote confirms exactly what applies to your room, including any exclusions and provisional allowances.

01

Strip-out and disposal

Removal of tiles, screens, vanity, toilet, bath, shower, sheeting and affected framing. Floor protection, dust containment and skip placement are planned before day one.

02

Substrate and framing repairs

Replacement of water-damaged studs, noggings, floor sheeting and rotting timbers. We document hidden damage with photos before rectification.

03

Plumbing and drainage

Licensed plumbing for new wastes, relocated supplies, mixer heights, floor waste falls and shower drainage. Existing stacks are reused where practical to control cost.

04

Waterproofing to AS 3740

Sheet preparation, bond breakers, fillets, two-coat membrane application and flood testing. We supply a waterproofing compliance certificate at completion.

05

Wall and floor tiling

Level, set-out, screeding, niche detailing, mitred edges, epoxy grout where specified and silicone to all wet junctions.

06

Fixtures and fit-off

Vanity, basin, tapware, toilet, shower screen, mirror, accessories, exhaust fan and lighting installed and tested.

07

Painting and making good

Ceiling repairs, cornice patching, door and architrave preparation, and low-sheen bathroom paint to finish the room.

08

Site clean and handover

Builders clean, rubbish removal, a walkthrough of every fixture, care instructions and your documentation pack.

How we approach full bathroom renovation

We price the room, not a wish list

A bathroom quote is only useful if it reflects the actual condition of your room. We inspect the substrate, test for moisture, check the exhaust path and confirm plumbing access before we commit to a fixed price. If something is genuinely unknown until demolition, we say so and set a transparent provisional allowance rather than hiding it.

Layout changes are planned before demolition

Moving a toilet, vanity or shower looks simple on a plan but depends on joist direction, waste fall and stack position. We work through those constraints with you early so the finished room has proper clearances, a comfortable shower and drainage that will not pool.

One schedule, one point of contact

You receive a milestone schedule showing when demolition, rough-in, waterproofing, tiling and fit-off happen. Our project lead is contactable across the build, and we confirm each week what is happening next so you can plan around school runs, work and family life.

A proper handover

At completion we test every tap, waste and fan with you, check falls and silicone lines, explain how to care for the finishes, and hand over the waterproofing certificate and warranty information. We do not consider the job finished until you have had the chance to inspect it properly.

Full Bathroom Renovation cost guide

Full renovations vary with room size, layout changes and finish level. These bands are a planning guide for Brisbane homes, not a quote. We confirm a fixed price after an on-site measure.

ScopeIndicative range
Essential full renovation, existing layout$18,000 – $26,000
Mid-range with minor plumbing moves$26,000 – $36,000
Custom layout, stone and premium tapware$36,000 – $50,000
Major structural change or luxury fit-out$50,000+

Indicative only. Site access, asbestos, substrate condition, tile selection and body corporate requirements can change the final scope. For a fuller breakdown, read our Brisbane bathroom renovation cost guide or use the cost calculator.

Our full bathroom renovation process

One project lead manages the sequence, checks each trade's work and keeps you informed. The programme is agreed before demolition so you know when to expect each stage.

Call and brief

Tell us the room, your timing and what is not working. We book an on-site measure, usually within a few business days.

Measure and scope

We inspect the substrate, plumbing and ventilation, then prepare an itemised written quote with allowances and exclusions shown.

Selections and programme

You choose tiles, tapware and fixtures with our guidance. We confirm lead times and lock in the build dates.

Strip-out and rough-in

The room is protected, stripped and inspected. Plumbing and electrical rough-in are completed and any hidden damage is documented.

Waterproof, tile, fit-off

Membrane is applied and tested, tiling is set out and finished, then fixtures, screens and accessories are installed.

Handover

We clean, walk you through the room, test everything and hand over certificates, warranties and care notes.

Why homeowners choose our team

We are the builder. The team who quotes your project is accountable for the waterproofing, tiling, trade coordination and handover. That direct responsibility is why our scope can be specific and our programme realistic.

  • QBCC licensed for kitchen, bathroom and laundry work, with Certificate III qualifications in tiling and waterproofing.
  • AS 3740 waterproofing with flood testing and a compliance certificate.
  • Externally ducted ventilation and moisture-aware detailing for Brisbane's climate.
  • Written variations, agreed before the work proceeds.
  • A formal handover with testing, care instructions and documentation.

If you are comparing quotes, read our guide to choosing a bathroom contractor and our contractor standards so you know what to ask.

Full Bathroom Renovation across Brisbane

We work across Greater Brisbane, including the northside, southside, eastside, westside and inner city. Local housing conditions affect the scope: older Queenslanders may need floor levelling and substrate repair, while apartments need body corporate approval and careful access planning.

Practical answers

Full Bathroom Renovation questions

The questions Brisbane homeowners ask most often about full bathroom renovation, costs and timing.

How long does a full bathroom renovation take in Brisbane?

Most full renovations take 10–15 working days on site after demolition. Allow additional time for tile and fixture lead times, waterproofing cure and any structural repairs found during strip-out. We provide a milestone schedule before work starts.

Do I need to move out during the renovation?

Usually not, provided your home has another bathroom or toilet. We maintain dust containment, protect floors and clean daily. If you have a single bathroom, we can discuss a temporary arrangement and sequence the work to shorten the period without a usable toilet.

Can you change the layout of my bathroom?

Yes. We can relocate vanities, toilets, showers and basins, subject to joist direction, waste fall and stack access. Layout changes require plumbing and sometimes structural work, so they are priced after inspection rather than assumed.

What waterproofing documentation will I receive?

You receive a waterproofing compliance certificate covering the wet areas, along with product information and our workmanship warranty. The membrane is applied by a licensed waterproofer to AS 3740 and inspected before tiling.

Is asbestos a risk in an older Brisbane bathroom?

Homes built before the late 1980s can contain asbestos in sheeting, adhesives or lagging. If we suspect it, we stop, arrange testing and use a licensed removal contractor before work continues. This is a legitimate variation, not a hidden extra.

Do you supply tiles and fixtures?

We can supply through our trade suppliers or work with your selections. Either way, we confirm quantities, lead times and spares before ordering so the programme is not held up by a missing box of tiles.
