Local renovation guide
Geebung is a compact northside suburb shaped by the railway line, post-war housing and a strong community feel. Its homes include original workers' cottages, 1950s and 1960s family houses, and newer townhouses. Bathrooms vary from tiny original rooms to added ensuites with awkward drainage, and each needs a different approach.
We renovate bathrooms, ensuites and laundries in Geebung with the same process we use across Brisbane: inspect first, document the scope, waterproof properly and manage every trade through to handover. If your bathroom has a timber floor, an old shower recess or a laundry that was added to the back of the house, we will explain what needs to change before you commit to a price.
We are familiar with the streets around Geebung station, 7th Brigade Park and the Geebung retail strip, and can usually schedule an on-site measure within a few business days.
Geebung takes its name from the geebung shrub, a native Persoonia species that was common in the sandy soils of the area. The opening of the North Coast railway through the district in the 1880s gave the locality a station and encouraged early residential and industrial development. For much of the twentieth century Geebung was a working suburb, with railway workers, factory employees and small businesses living close to the line.
Geebung State School has served local families since the 1920s, and the Geebung-Zillmere RSL Club became a community fixture in the post-war years. The suburb's position between Chermside and Virginia means it now combines older housing with warehouse and light-industrial uses, while 7th Brigade Park and the Downfall Creek corridor provide green space at its edge.

Geebung's housing is a mix of interwar cottages, post-war timber homes and 1960s brick veneer. Many sit on traditional stumps, which affects floor stability and the way bathrooms can be tiled. Some have been raised and built in underneath, creating opportunities for new bathrooms but also introducing drainage, head-height and waterproofing challenges.
The suburb also has townhouses and small apartment buildings near the station and major roads. These typically have compact bathrooms with limited storage and mechanical ventilation. Renovation scope is often constrained by body corporate rules, shared walls and the position of the service shaft.
Older Geebung cottages often have movement in the floor structure. Before tiling, we check joists, bearers and stump condition, then stiffen or pack as required. Ignoring movement is the fastest way to end up with cracked tiles and failed silicone.
Homes close to the line can be affected by vibration and dust during construction. We plan deliveries, contain cutting and clean the site daily so the impact on neighbours and the household is limited.
Many Geebung bathrooms are small. We use wall-hung vanities, recessed shaving cabinets and niche storage to free up floor space, and choose fixtures with a small footprint without sacrificing usability.
We provide full bathroom renovations, ensuite renovations, small bathroom upgrades, laundry renovations, waterproofing, tiling, kitchen renovations and accessible modifications across Geebung and the surrounding area. Each project is scoped after an on-site inspection, with allowances and exclusions shown in writing.

Local answers
Cost, timing, approvals and practical questions from homeowners in Geebung.
Most projects range from $16,000 to $36,000, depending on size, substrate condition and finishes. Older timber homes may require structural work that affects the final price. We provide a written fixed quote after inspection.
Yes. We inspect the floor structure, check for moisture damage and allow for levelling or stiffening before tiling. We also check for asbestos-containing materials in older sheeting and adhesives.
Yes. Bathrooms built in under a raised home need particular attention to drainage, waterproofing, ventilation and ceiling height. We assess these constraints before quoting.
Usually yes. Retaining the toilet and waste position reduces cost and complexity. If you want to move it, we confirm whether the joists and waste fall allow the change.
A standard bathroom takes 10–15 working days on site. Smaller ensuites may take 8–12 days, while structural repairs or layout changes extend the programme.
Yes. The wet-area membrane is applied to AS 3740 and a compliance certificate is included at handover.
